About
Ahmet Alis has studied Local Governments and Political Science at Kocaeli University. He received his M.A. in the Modern Turkish History at Bogazici University and is currently studying his PhD at the same university. His master thesis is titled The Process of the Politicization of the Kurdish Identity in Turkey: The Kurds and the Turkish Labor Party 1961-1971 and his ongoing dissertation is titled The Kurdish Ethnoregional Movement in Turkey, 1959-1984. He has written and presented several papers on Kurdish history with an emphasis on the 1960s and 1970s. After being affiliated with the Danish Institute for International Studies for one year,he is currently affiliated with University of Copenhagen conducting fieldwork, including interviews with Kurdish intellectuals residing in Europe, who were politically active in Turkey and had to flee the country after the 1980 military coup.
